Sometimes you just need to sleep. Two illos for a magazine article on children's naps.

In the print version of The Rainbow Orchid, as well as sticking to the standard four-tier page that is common to many clear-line BD albums, there would be the occasional half-page panel, often at the beginning of a new episode. When I converted the comic to its online format, I standardised the size and shrunk these down. Well, now they're back! You can view the larger panels at the start of episodes 2, 3, 5 and 6.

The latest strip is up as episode 7 keeps going. At the moment I am updating once a week, but as soon as my work calms down a little I hope to post twice a week - especially as my deadline for episode 7 in Fusion is August.

You might have noticed the little buttons just below the episode chapters, added as I join up with various webcomic communities. If you feel you can, please take the time to register with these sites and add Rainbow Orchid as a favourite - it all helps to give the comic a higher profile and bring in more readers. I've decided not to go for any of the online voting systems as I don't think it gives a reliable representation, and I feel uncomfortable with the competitiveness. That's not to say it's wrong, I vote for quite a few comics I like!

The Rainbow Orchid is continuing... at last! After many delays for a variety of wonderous reasons, I have got back to the writing and drawing of the comic. With some slight trepidation, I am attempting to make Monday the new strip day, so check back every week to see the latest strip.

The Rainbow Orchid online webcomic has had a restructure. You no longer need to buy a readers' ticket, the entire online archive is free to read. You can still become a registered reader which will give you access to an exclusive members' area of the site, which comes with many benefits and goodies.

All readers' tickets that have been purchased up to now will be refunded - thank you so much to everyone who took that leap of faith! I've decided I wanted to open the strip up to a much bigger audience, and I'm relying on a small amount of advertising (discreet) and a PayPal donations system to help keep the site going. The advertisers are not sponsors, just Google ads, so only follow the link if you're genuinely interested - too many clicks from a single IP address and they'll think there's something funny going on! If you want to support the comic financially, go to the read strip page, and you'll see a donate button. Thanks.

Most importantly, the income from the webcomic version of the strip is to go towards the printed book version, and that is still the aim of the site.

In an earlier post I showed some rough sketches for a poster illustrating the musical Return to the Forbidden Planet, so I thought I'd keep the topic updated with the finished poster (just needs the title/lettering doing).

Still in a pretty busy stretch of work. I finished the COSHH drawings (though I hear there may now be some additional drawings needed) and will be finishing the first phase of an intranet I'm developing mid-week. This weekend I hope to get the Forbidden Planet poster finished.

Next up is something a bit different for me, in the form of some animation sequences as chapter headings for a video.

This is one of my busiest weeks - finishing off some COSHH training graphics, and also my latest drawing for my regular spot illustrating Dr. Richard Woolfson's article in Who Minds? magazine (for the National Childminding Association). This one is about how to help children who view traumatic events on the television. Early pencil stage:
