Space Galleon title (font designed and made by Garen Ewing)

For this project the brief was to design a short animated film of a flying ship coming towards the viewer through a futuristic city. First of all I had to design the ship, which was also to be used in a separate logo graphic.

I created some very rough concept boards for the scene, to give the client and a 3D modeller an idea of the look and feel we were after for the visuals.

I designed a number of buildings (a selection above) for the 3D modeller to use when building the cityscape. The rough below shows my plan of the elements required for the animation. I also built a rough 3D model myself in SketchUp to help plan and space the scene.

Below are my drawings, from rough to finalised concept, for the finished space galleon design in perspective. The plan was to use my art against a moving background created by the 3D artist. The propellor would rotate.

Sadly this project never made it to the finish line. I put together the image below from my galleon concept drawing and the 3D artist's early rendering of the city buildings.
